My Plans For the Future

You know that saying, “If I had a dollar for every time so and so did so and so I’d be rich!” Well, this just so happens to be the subject that it holds the most true for. (That and my name being mispronounced of course.) I completely understand the reason for it being such a common question, because heck, I ask people it all the time. I’m a very curious person and I find what intrigues others to be interesting, and to hear them talk about it is super fun, and it’s a dang good conversation starter!
My one problem with the question, “What are your plans for the future?” is that I don’t necessarily know how to answer it when I personally get asked. I have an endless amount of plans for my future, but that’s part of my problem. Where do I start?
Whenever I got asked, my answer used to simply be, “You know as well as I do.” HA. What a joke that was. I knew then and I know now what I love doing and things I put/want to put my passion into. I just don’t know how to word, “I want to live in a small house surrounded by trees and flowers in a rainy environment and do art all day.” or, “I plan on opening my own small coffee shop where I can paint the walls however I want and smell freshly ground coffee every morning.” When people are expecting to hear a simple, “Go to blank college for four years and major in blank.”
I have a million things I want to do. I can and will entertain myself for the rest of my life. I will always have something to do, and that’s the way I like/want it. I like routine, because routine is organized, but I do not like routine to the extent that it turns into a chore and you can’t look forward to what you’re going to do. I would love to have a routine of living somewhere I can wake up to daily mass, cook myself a nice breakfast, then decide on what I want to spend the rest of my day doing. There is no way I could ever have an 8:00-5:00 job and be under supervision of someone else, having to listen to all of their commands. I want to pursue a career in something I enjoy doing. Something that makes it so I want to wake up in the morning. Something I can be proud of myself for day in and day out.
It’s going to be trouble for me though because I have so many things I want to do, I don’t know what to go to college for. I’ve just been kind of waiting for my final decision to make itself rather than actually having to make it myself. Although it kind of stresses me out now, I’ve seemed to be able to wing a lot of things in my life and it’s turned out pretty good so far. This upcoming summer will be my last one before my senior year and before I have to start making all of the plans for my future. I plan on spending this summer exploring all of my interests so I can narrow down exactly what it is I want to spend the rest of my life doing.
A lot of people ask me if I’m considering sports scholarships for college, and mostly for basketball. I’ve also put a lot of thought into that. There are a lot of pro’s and con’s to this particular subject. Pro’s being that I love the game of basketball and will always have a hard time giving it up no matter what I decide to do, and being granted with a few more years to play and at another level I feel like would be a really enjoyable experience, along with the friends and memories I would make along the way. Con’s being that it would take up a lot of my time. I would like to major in something art related and I know that would require a lot of hours in studio, and it’d be hard to put those hours in and also be at practice, weights, watch film, etc. I would also like to start working somewhere so I can get a head start on raising money for what I will need to pay during/after college, and I’d also need time for that. Given how much time and thoughts I put into basketball now though, and only as a Junior in high school, it’s kind of crazy to imagine ever not playing anymore, but I guess I’ll just have to wait and find out what I feel like is the right decision when the time comes.

So in the end, I still don’t have an exact answer to the question. I do not know for sure what it is I want to do with myself once my high school years are over, all I know is that I want to enjoy it. I will continue on doing what I like today, in hopes that it will lead me onto something greater that I can make a living out of. So thank you for reading, even if it wasn’t quite what you were expecting to hear. Give me about a year and I’m sure I’ll have it all planned out to a T and would be nothing less than over joyed to share every part of what I plan to do with the rest of my life with you.

Cheers, 2015

Click here to see a short clip of what 2015 blessed me with the opportunities to partake in! : )

Just wanted to say what an amazing year I had. There are always things that could change your ultimate perspective when looking at them overall, but just make sure to make the good memories count for extra. Thank you so much to everyone who was a part of my year, each and everyone of you effected me tremendously and shaped me into who I am now. I am so grateful for every person I have in my life. I got so many chances to do incredible things this year and am also very grateful for that. Thank you once again, to my friends, and to 2015, you are one I won't forget.

Reasons To Smile This Monday

  • The Epiphany took place this weekend.
  • You had a purpose for waking up today.
  • Monday’s are just another day you are granted to work toward an ultimate goal of yours.
  • You got to see everyone you missed seeing over break.
  • (This one may be just me) I love seeing everyone walking down the hall with a huge smile on their face because they’re wearing a new outfit they got for Christmas.
  • Halfway done with the school year.
  • Getting the opportunity to live on any given day is a huge privilege often overlooked.
  • The biggest one for me would be today’s practice was pregame for one of our biggest match-ups we’ll get this whole basketball season. My team, the Lady Warriors, (5-0) are facing the defending state champs, St. John’s Bluejays (4-1) tomorrow. ((If you’re reading this make sure to be at Lynch Gymnasium in Glasco at 6:00 tomorrow, I love having a crowd.))
  • Caught a glimpse of the sunset on the bus ride home today from practice, needless to say it was simply beautiful.
